<number of dependent data columns>
Comment: According to the original NASA-Ames 1001 definition, a file contains only one independent variable in the leftmost data column, usually the time variable. All other data columns consist of dependent variables. EBAS NASA-Ames contains two additional fixed columns, the end time of the averaging period (second from left) and a flag column (rightmost). These are accomodated as dependent columns. The number of other dependent columns depends on instrument type and data level. Line 10 states the total number of dependent variables / columns, including the two EBAS NASA-Ames required columns (end_time of measurement, numflag). For regular data submissions, this number is fixed for a given instrument or type of observation.
