 Data Acquisition & Near-Real-Time Submission Software for TSI 3563 Nephelometer

Description:

This software logs the data collected by a TSI 3563 nephelometer, which is connected to a Windows PC via a serial cable where the software is running. The software actively sets the nephelometer to the operating parameters specified in the software's ini file, displays the incoming data in strip charts for visual inspection, logs the data in daily and hourly level 0 files, and automatically uploads the data hourly to the EBAS near-real-time service.

Requirements:

  • PC running Windows (tested with Windows 7, should run on higher versions as well)
  • LabView 2014 run-time library installed
  • LabView serial port (VISA) drivers installed

Instructions:

  • Download downloader for LabView 2014 run-time environment (LVRTE2014f2std_downloader.exe) to your DAQ PC, download the driver, and install it on your DAQ PC.
  • Download downloader for LabView serial port driver (NIVISA1501full_downloader.exe) to your DAQ PC, download the driver, and install it on your DAQ PC.
  • Download the ZIP package containing the software itself (TSI_3563_log_v0.0.2.zip), and move its content to "C:\NILU_DAQ\NILU_TSI_3563_log_v0.0.2\
  • In this folder, take the “NILU_TSI_3563_control_v0.0.2.config.Example.20151030.ini” file, rename it “NILU_TSI_3563_control_v0.0.2.config.<station name>.<date>.ini”. Open the file, and adapt it to the configuration at your station and your metadata.
  • In “C:\NILU_DAQ\NILU_TSI_3563_log_v0.0.2\”, make a copy of the edited file, and name it “TSI_3563_control_v0.0.2.config.current.ini”.
  • Run the program, and add it as scheduled task at system boot for auto-start after power failure.
 Data Acquisition & Near-Real-Time Submission Software for Thermo 5012 Multi-Angle Absorption Photometer (MAAP)

Description:

This software logs the data collected by a Thermo 5012 Multi-Angle Absorption Photometer, which is connected to a Windows PC via a serial cable where the software is running. The software consists of 3 programs running individually: 1) display the incoming data in strip charts for visual inspection and logging on storage; 2) aggregation of the data in hourly, properly formatted level 0 files; 3) scheduled upload of the data hourly to the EBAS near-real-time service.
NOTE:
The program for the scheduled FTP upload doesn't store the FTP account credentials for use after reboot. When setting up the software for automatic start after reboot (recommended), consider using an alternative FTP solution, e.g. a script in the language of your preference.

  • LabView serial port (VISA) drivers installed

Instructions:

  • Download downloader for LabView 2015 run-time environment (LVRTE2015SP1_f7Patchstd_downloader.exe) to your DAQ PC, download the driver, and install it on your DAQ PC.
  • Download downloader for LabView serial port driver (NIVISA1501full_downloader.exe) to your DAQ PC, download the driver, and install it on your DAQ PC.
  • Download the ZIP package containing the software itself (20161007_TROPOS_MAAP_software.zip), and move it to your DAQ software folder.
  • Follow the instructions in the manual (MAAP NRT V35 Manual.docx)

The displays the incoming data in strip charts for visual inspection, logs the data in daily and hourly level 0 files, and automatically uploads the data hourly to the EBAS near-real-time service.

  • Set the aethalometer to write data in "Expanded format". If you are unfamiliar with this term, consult the aethalometer manual.
  • Download downloader for LabView 2014 run-time environment (LVRTE2014f2std_downloader.exe) to your DAQ PC, download the driver, and install it on your DAQ PC.
  • Download downloader for LabView serial port driver (NIVISA1501full_downloader.exe) to your DAQ PC, download the driver, and install it on your DAQ PC.
  • Download the ZIP package containing the software itself (NILU_AE31_log_v0.0.2.zip), and move its content to "C:\NILU_DAQ\NILU_AE31_log_v0.0.2\
  • In this folder, take the “NILU_AE31_log_v0.0.2.config.Example.20161219.ini” file, rename it “NILU_AE31_log_v0.0.2.config.<station name>.<date>.ini”. Open the file, and adapt it to the configuration at your station and your metadata.
  • In “C:\NILU_DAQ\NILU_AE31_log_v0.0.2\”, make a copy of the edited file, and name it “NILU_AE31_log_v0.0.2.config.current.ini”.
  • Run the program, and add it as scheduled task at system boot for auto-start after power failure.
  • Be sure to match the serial port settings of the aethalometer with those specified in the INI file.

Description:

Reporting aethalometer data in its level 0 format includes the raw signals of the instrument, which are logged by the instrument if the extended output format is chosen (recommended). Older instruments saving the data on floppy disk often used a compressed format that also included these signals, but not in a human-readable way. This programme converts files in the compressed format to the extended format. That way, also older legacy data recorded in compressed format can be used to report aethalometer data in the full level 0 format with all raw signals. Please refer also to the Aethalometer manual, pages 131 - 134.
