The example template given below contains the metadata fields that are commonly included when reporting data related to this specific template. Some of these metadata elements may not be relevant for your data reporting, like AIRS station ID for stations outside North America or the various QA measure data when there is no QA measure for the data. Such metadata elements could be let out. If you want to include additional metadata elements that are not given in the example template, there is a complete list here.  In case of any doubt about such additional metadata, please consult the EBAS team!

Template for submission of NOx measurements by online monitors 
This template should be used for submitting data of NOx as measured by online field monitors.

Points to note:

  • NOx measurements by chemiluminescence photometry uses either a photolytic or molybdenum converter for transforming NO2 into NO. It is well established that molybdenum converters convert not only NO2, but also other reactive nitrogen species. Please note that at rural and remote sites, only the use of photolytic converters satisfy the recommendations of EMEP, ACTRIS and GAW. Thus, when submitting data it is essential to specify the type of instrument and converter being used. This is specified in the metadata element “Instrument type”.
  • Please note that you should also report surface ozone and met data (RH, T, P, global radiation) in their respective templates if a correction of O3 reaction in the inlet line and H2O quenching in the detector is to be done.

Downloading template as text file

You could download the template and start to modify the text with your own metadata. Due to limitations of the online portal we could not provide files with the .nas file extension. So please download the text file and edit, and remember to use the .nas file-extension when you create your datafile:
