The example template given below contains the metadata fields that are commonly included when reporting data related to this specific template. Some of these metadata elements may not be relevant for your data reporting, like AIRS station ID for stations outside North America or the various QA measure data when there is no QA measure for the data. Such metadata elements could be let out. If you want to include additional metadata elements that are not given in the example template, there is a complete list here.  In case of any doubt about such additional metadata, please consult the EBAS team!

Aerosol Particle Mass Concentration Data Obtained by Gravimetric Filter Analysis (level 2 data)

Below, you find an example of a data file reporting measurements of aerosol particulate mass concentration measured by gravimetric filter analysis. The format has been designed to make data reporting a easy as possible while still keeping the file self-explanatory and containing the essential information necessary for archiving and interpreting the file content. The parameters to be included in a regular data submission have been determined by an instrument specific GAW expert group.

Points to note:

Clicking on a specific line in the example template will provide a detailed explanation and possible options for each of the metadata elements. Please contact ebas@nilu in case of broken links etc.

  • Most of the information entering the header needs to be collected only for the first submission. For the first submission, it is easiest to copy the example, and to adapt it to your station. However, when "recycling" the header for a new submission, please do make sure that the information is current, and update where necessary.
  • A complete list of EBAS metadata elements and there relevance

Downloading template as text file

You could download the template and start to modify the text with your own metadata. Due to limitations of the online portal we could not provide files with the .nas file extension. So please download the text file and edit, and remember to use the .nas file-extension when you create your datafile:
